Don’t miss the first European Holiday Market presented by the Harrisonburg Farmers Market tomorrow, Saturday, December 22 from 9am to 2pm! This festive downtown-wide holiday event will feature seasonal entertainment, including live music and carolers, children’s activities, and more. The Turner Pavilion will be bursting with vendors, including many of your regular Market favorites as well as additional prepared food and local handcraft vendors for all of your holiday shopping needs!

Still need plans for New Year’s Eve? If you are looking to do less cooking and more eating, Joshua Wilton House is featuring a delicious six-course dinner on Monday, December 31 from 5:00-10:00 pm. A sample menu for the evening includes amuses bouches such as Backfield Farms Andouille Sausage-Smoked Gouda and Grainy Mustard or Crispy Potato Cups with Herb Chevre and Olive Tapenade, cold appetizers such as Herb Crusted Lamb Carpaccio, and hot appetizers such as Parmesan-Rosemary Gnocchi. Following the appetizers, you could choose from a numerous list of fresh and local entrees, such as Grilled Elk Chop or Pan-Roasted Wild Rockfish. A cheese course following the entree is a perfect palate-refresher. When it’s time for dessert, you can choose from delicacies such as Key Lime Pot de Crème, Chocolate Butterscotch Bouchon, or Tropical Fruit Phyllo Napoleon. The six-course dinner is prix-fixe at $75.00 per person, or $100 per person with wine pairings, and reservations are required. Billy Jack’s Wing & Draft Shack will also be hosting a New Year’s Eve party. Call or stop in soon to reserve a table and guarantee your spot at the stroke of midnight! Cost is $25 for up to four people and a bottle of bubbly or Bold Rock hard cider. The Billy Jack’s bartenders have also created some fun cocktails for the evening. If you’re looking for a little music with your meal, be sure to make a reservation for the Local Chop & Grill House’s New Year’s Eve Show featuring Bryan Elijah Smith & the Wild Hearts! first night harrisonburg

And if you’re looking for a full evening of entertainment for the whole family, don’t miss the 20th anniversary of First Night Harrisonburg from 6:00 p.m. to midnight in downtown Harrisonburg on December 31. Featured entertainment at 18 locations includes children and teen activities, musical and theater performances, a New Year’s Resolution Clock and Painted Famous Face Boards, food vendors, juggling and magic shows, and a grand finale fireworks show. Admission to all First Night venues, performances, and activities requires the purchase of a First Night button, so be sure to pick yours up soon! Presale buttons are $6.00 each and buttons on the night of the event are $8.00 each, with children age five and under admitted free.
