My name is Lori Snell and I’m happy to be a new member of the HDR Board of Directors and Chair of the Organization Committee. My main focus will be helping to plan Renaissance Night, strengthening the Friends of Downtown program, and building cooperation and consensus between the many interests that are a part of HDR and the downtown community.
My interest in downtown Harrisonburg started in 1994 when I was asked to help with First Night® Harrisonburg. At that time, there were very few restaurants or shops in downtown, so we used the shell of the old Woolworth building as a food court. Court Square Theater was just being built, there wasn’t the Explore More Discovery Museum, and there were few reasons to come downtown.
Haven’t things changed! With 26 restaurants, 50 shops, and many, many events, there is always a reason to be downtown! My favorite parts of downtown are the events, especially the Holiday Parade and First Night Harrisonburg. I just like the ambiance of the whole downtown.
So what are you waiting for? Shop, eat, volunteer, and have fun- Do Downtown!
